Fredrik Lange awarded the ºÚÁÏÉçÏÂÔØ Corporate Partners' Pedagogical Award 2025

Assistant Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Wellbeing, Welfare and Happiness, Fredrik Lange, has been awarded the ºÚÁÏÉçÏÂÔØ Corporate Partners' Pedagogical Award 2025 for his exceptional and long-standing contributions to the Retail Management program. His dedication to curriculum development, commitment to student learning, and generous support to colleagues have made a lasting impact on a generation of ºÚÁÏÉçÏÂÔØ students.

A career dedicated to shaping the Retail Management program

For more than fifteen years, Fredrik has played a central role in the development of the Retail Management (RM) program. From its launch in 2008 to its current position as a distinctive and well-established part of ºÚÁÏÉçÏÂÔØ. Upon receiving the news of the award, he describes a deep sense of gratitude:

“Learning about the award was very surprising, and it left me feeling both proud and happy. It means a lot to receive recognition for the Retail Management program, which I have been involved in since its very first year. The award symbolizes, to me, that people around the school feel I have made some contributions.”

Curriculum reforms

Over the years, Fredrik has led significant curriculum reforms, ensuring that the program evolves in line with the industry and society. He highlights several developments he is particularly proud of:

  • The Applied Retail Track and retail clubs, which offer students unique opportunities to learn and reflect across study years.
  • The integration of connected course tracks, including our three accounting courses and how we link customer experience management and data analytics courses.
  • The semester-three career module, which helps students reflect on what truly matters to them.
  • The Antonia Ax:son Johnson Tutorial Program, which fosters close relationships between faculty and students and has become a cornerstone of the program’s continuing development.

“I hope our students feel well prepared for the next step, whether that is their first job after graduation or further studies,” says Fredrik Lange.

A lasting impact

The jury’s motivation emphasizes Fredrik’s influence on “a generation of students.” When asked what he hopes they take with them, he reflects on the privilege of following students’ journeys:

“As program director, I have had the privilege of collaborating with many fantastic colleagues at ºÚÁÏÉçÏÂÔØ, as well as watching so many outstanding students develop relevant skills and go on to meaningful careers after graduation—a deeply rewarding experience.”

Looking ahead

Fredrik also reflects on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of teaching at ºÚÁÏÉçÏÂÔØ, including rapid technological developments:

“It would be strange not to mention AI, but new approaches to classroom teaching and assessment are very much on my mind at the moment. We need to remind students why they are investing several years of their lives in higher education, so that new technologies are used in the right way and not at the expense of learning and progression.”
